Though shaped like the familiar globe-shaped Christmas ornament, this is no bauble of thin, painted glass; the Snow Crystals Ball ornament has the weight, clarity, and attention to detail befitting a treasured keepsake. Four snowflakes, each with its individual design, decorate the sides, refracting light with a multitude of tiny prisms. A spiral-sculpted wire hanger with crystal beads is provided for hanging, and a tiny metal tag proclaims the year. The ornament comes in a red gift window box lined with satin; the hanger is in a small cloth bag. To preserve its clarity, wash Waterford crystal with a mild liquid soap in warm (not hot) water. Certain water may leave a lime or mineral deposit on the crystal; if that happens, vinegar on a soft, nonabrasive cloth will help remove the deposit. Rinse with warm water and polish with a lint-free cloth. Edges and rims are delicate; wrap ornament in soft paper before storing to avoid chipping.
